Costco Take and Bake Pepperoni Pizza

I've probably had Costco's Take and Bake or deli counter pizza 40-50 times. I've purchased these for parties, quick easy pizza dinners, and even on a whim as I'm walking past them while shopping. It's simple, it's reasonably priced, and it's delicious.

This time I purchased the pepperoni pizza and removed some slices to please the group I was eating with. I've also eaten their cheese pizza take and bake. I don't enjoy that one as much; it's too cheesy.

There's a lot to like about this pizza: it's completely covered with big slices of nice flavored pepperoni, the crush is a good "medium" thickness, and it is a surprisingly good crust for a take and bake. Too many pizzas try to be thin crust or deep dish. Costco does it the Costco way, which is, here's a giant pizza that isn't fancy that you'll enjoy eating. And I have, over and over.

I can down many slices of this, look forward to the leftovers in the fridge the next day, and am happy to get it again. Considering I've had it so many times, it is easily a 4 star pizza (out of 5) for me.

What does it say about the Colorado pizza culture that one of my favorite pizzas on the Front Range is a take and bake from a national big box chain? Not much and should tell you exactly why I started this blog. Great, 5 star pizza doesn't exist in Colorado. At least I haven't found it yet. I've eaten countless slices in my life that are exponentially better than this pizza. But here in Colorado, Costco gets 4 stars. C'mon Colorado pizza culture, step up your game!

There are about 15 Costco's between Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. It should be hard for you to find a Costco nearby to sample this pizza.

Is there a better take and bake pizza out there? Papa Murphy's, King Soopers, Whole Foods, someone else?
